TRULEO'S mission is to safeguard community trust in the police. By doing just that, we’re raising the standard for transparency and ethical artificial intelligence (AI) in law enforcement. As AI continues to transform policing, we prioritize proving the real-world effectiveness and fairness of our tools. To achieve this, we rely on rigorous academic studies to validate our impact, ensuring our technology meets the most stringent scrutiny and delivers tangible results.

Bias and Surveillance Study: Proof of Ethical AI Use

TRULEO participated in an unprecedented bias and surveillance study with top scholars from NYU and Vanderbilt and this study is one of the cornerstones of our evidence-based approach. This civil liberties evaluation analyzed the potential impact of TRULEO’s AI platform on critical issues such as fairness, privacy, and bias in policing. The study underscores TRULEO’s dedication to aligning AI technology with civil rights, offering robust insights into how AI can enhance transparency and accountability without compromising ethical standards.

Key Findings from the Study:

Fairness: The NYU/Vanderbilt study found that TRULEO’s AI methodologies reduce biases in decision-making processes by relying on a standardized, transparent framework.

Anti-surveillance Privacy Protections: The research validated our system’s ability to prioritize data security and individual privacy, protecting  civil liberties while delivering actionable insights.

Bias Mitigation: By leveraging open-sourced, thoroughly tested labels and audio only transcription, TRULEO’s platform demonstrated effectiveness in mitigating biases, a critical factor in building public trust.

These findings reflect our ongoing commitment to creating AI solutions that prioritize ethics and fairness while enhancing policing practices.

Randomized Controlled Trials: Proof of Efficacy

Alongside the NYU/Vanderbilt study, TRULEO’s systems have been scrupulously tested through randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted by leading institutions like ASU, USC and Clemson University. Additionally, TRULEO is currently participating in three Arizona efficacy studies to evaluate its impact, including one with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. These studies provide compelling evidence of our platform’s ability to:

  • Enhance professionalism in officer interactions through actionable feedback.
  • Reduce incidents of unprofessionalism by proactively mitigating any issues identified.
  • Streamline positive reinforcement with feedback loops and avenues to recognize and praise good police work which leads to improved officer morale and better recruitment/retention rates.

These RCTs demonstrate that TRULEO’s tools are not only effective but also capable of driving meaningful improvements in policing outcomes.

Conclusion:

TRULEO’s vision extends beyond technology—it’s about cultivating a culture of community trust, collaboration, and innovation in law enforcement. By prioritizing evidence-based practices validated through independent research and open-sourcing our methodologies, we aim to set the gold standard for ethical AI.
